Israeli Forces Detain nine Palestinians, Karate Team Coach from West Bank, Gaza

TULKAREM, April 12, 2016 (WAFA) – Israeli forces early Tuesday detained nine Palestinians from the West Bank and Palestine Karate Team coach at a Gaza border crossing said security Palestinian Olympian Committee’s sources.

Forces detained three Palestinians after breaking into and ransacking their houses in the Tulkarem residential neighborhoods of Iktaba and Shweika.

The detainees were identified as Baha’ Abu-Daghash, 27, his cousin, Murad, 39, and Ayman Tu‘meh, 26.

Forces also detained Hazem Nasser, a photojournalist from Tulkarem, while he was travelling along Road 60 that passes near Yitzhar settlement, south of Nablus.

In Jenin, forces detained Omar As‘ad, 20, after storming and ransacking his house in the eastern neighborhood of Jenin city.

In Bethlehem district, forces detained three Palestinians, including a minor, during a predawn raid into Beit Fajjar town, south of the city.

The detainees were identified as Adel Deiriyeh, 24, Issam Taqatqa, 17, and Usama Deiriyeh, 24.

In the meantime, forces detained a Palestinian from the southern West Bank city of Hebron.

The detainee was identified as Munjed al-Rajabi, 20.

This came as forces detained Palestine Karate Team coach at a border crossing in northern Gaza.

Sources from the Palestinian Olympian Committee and Palestine Karate Federation said that forces detained the coach of Palestine Karate Team, Hassan al-Ra‘i, 38, at Beit Hanoun or Erez crossing on his way back from the West Bank city of Ramallah.

Al-Ra‘i, coach of the first karate team for the blind in the occupied Palestinian Territories, was detained after the team was allowed to travel to UAE via the West Bank and Jordan to participate in a karate tournament.
