RAMALLAH, Saturday, June 20, 2020 (WAFA) – The latest coronavirus test results confirmed 51 new cases in the West Bank, the majority in the southern West Bank district of Hebron, thus raising total today to 84 and overall total in Palestine to 954, according to Minister of Health Mai Alkaila.
While yesterday’s 75 new cases of COVID-19 (coronavirus) confirmed in the West Bank was the highest number in a single day since the outbreak of the disease in Palestine in early March, today’s figure of 84 cases so far has already topped that.
Hebron district is by far the hardest hit with 49 of the latest confirmed cases with 258 total until the publication of this report. The remaining two cases were in the northern West Bank city of Nablus, said Alkaila.
According to the Minister, 592 of the total cases have recovered and five have died leaving the total active cases so far at 357.
After Hebron, Jerusalem district comes next with 38 active cases, Nablus 23, Gaza Strip 15, Ramallah and Al-Bireh 6, Bethlehem 5, Qalqilya 5, Jenin 4, Jericho and the Jordan Valley 2, and Tulkarm 1.
Total cases in the West Bank are now 687, Gaza Strip 72 and 195 in occupied East Jerusalem.
Out of the 592 recovered cases, the West Bank has 381, Gaza Strip 56 and East Jerusalem 155.
Five deaths were recorded – two in West Bank, two in East Jerusalem and one in Gaza.
