Israeli Forces Detain 15 Palestinians, Summon Five from West Bank

JENIN, March 2, 2016 (WAFA) - Israeli forces overnight Wednesday detained 15 Palestinians and summoned five others from a number of West Bank districts, said security sources and a local activist.

Israeli forces detained eight Palestinians during predawn raids across the northern West Bank district of Jenin.

Forces detained five Palestinians after breaking into and ransacking their family houses in Ya‘bad town, west of Jenin.

The detainees were identified as Muhammad Amarneh, Muhammad Abu Baker, Dhiyaa Zaydi, Adham Badarneh and Abed Abu Baker, in their 20s.

Forces also detained Muhammad Hathnawi after storming his family house in Qabatiya town, south of the city.

Another Palestinian identified as Islam Abu Ali, 25, was detained during a predawn raid into Siris village, south of the city.

Another Palestinian identified as Ghassan N‘irat, 28, was detained after forces stormed his house in Meithalun town, south of the city.

In a predawn raid into Sanur village, southwest of the city, forces stormed and ransacked the family houses of Shu‘aa Jarrar and Mufid Ayasa. They physically assaulted Jarrar’s son, Mahmoud, 15, and Mufid’s minor son, Muhammad.

Furthermore, forces stationed at Allenby border crossing, between the West Bank and Jordan, summoned Mu‘taz abu Alya, 27, while heading back from Saudi Arabic to Jenin following the Hajj.    

Aby Alya was handed a notice ordering him to appear before Israeli intelligence in Salem detention and interrogation center.

Meanwhile, forces summoned a Palestinian and briefly detained five others from the central West Bank district of Ramallah.

Forces raided Beit Rima village, northwest of Ramallah, where they summoned Thaer Rimawi, 26, after breaking into and ransacking his family house.

Several hours later, forces stationed at Atara military checkpoint, north of Ramallah city, briefly detained five Palestinians from Beit Rima.

Forces reportedly detained the five young men, who remained unidentified, after ordering them off the taxi.

Furthermore, soldiers stationed at the military checkpoint at the entrance of the nearby Nabi Saleh village stopped Palestinian vehicles and examined passengers’ identity cards.

A long queue of vehicles was seen waiting for soldiers to inspect them and allow them to pass.

To the south of Ramallah, in Jerusalem district, Israeli police detained Loai Abu Hummus after storming his family house in al-Issawiya town.

They also detained Mahmoud Shawish, 15, during a raid into the Jerusalem Old City’s neighborhood of Suwwana.

Israeli soldiers also raided Qatanna village, northwest of Jerusalem, where they detained Ahmad Taha and Muhammad al-Faqih. Taha was detained after being shot and injured by police.

To the south of Jerusalem, in Bethlehem city, forces summoned three Palestinians after storming family houses in Jabal al-Mawalih neighborhood.

Saleh al-Hreimi, 44, Muhammad Awwad, 20, and Laith Ibayyat, 22, were handed notices ordering them to appear before intelligence in Gush Etzion detention and interrogation center.

To the south of Bethlehem, in Hebron district, forces detained three Palestinians from Halhul and Beit Ummar towns.

Forces raided Halhul town, where they detained Saddam al-Bau.

They also raided Beit Ummar town, where they detained Ahmad Awad, 16, and Muhammad Abu Maria, 17, bringing up the number of Palestinians detained from the town since the January 1 to 23, including eight minors, according to local activist Muhammad Awad.

During the raid into Beit Ummar, forces stormed the family house of Yousef Awad, seeking to detain his son, Rashed, 17.
