Israel Detains Eight Palestinians in West Bank, Jerusalem

HEBRON, August 2, 2015 (WAFA) – Israeli forces Sunday detained seven Palestinians from the West Bank districts of Hebron and Ramallah, whereas Israeli police detained a teenager from the Jerusalem area, according to local and security sources.

Sources said that Israeli army forces detained four Palestinians from the city of Hebron. They were identified as Sa’id Ash-shareef, Eid al-Ikr, Odai al-Mohtasib, and Mohammed Abu Markhyeh.

Meanwhile, þSpokesperson of the anti settlement popular committee in Beit Ummar, Mohammed Awad, informed WAFA that forces detained two Palestinians at an Israeli military checkpoint set up at the entrance of the town of Beit Ummar to the south of Hebron.

The detainees were identified as Malik As-Salibi, 21, and Ameer Sabarneh, 23.

In the meantime, forces raided and searched a number of Palestinian-owned shops in al-Fawwar Refugee Camp to the south. Forces seized the surveillance cameras as well as set up a military checkpoint at the town’s entrance, stopping and searching passing by Palestinian-registered cars and checking their identity cards.

In Ramallah, forces arrested a released prisoner identified as Maher Mubarak, 25, after raiding and thoroughly searching his family’s home in the town of Silwad. Forces broke down the house’s front door and wreaked havoc in the house before detaining Mubarak.

Forces blind folded and handcuffed Mubarak before taking him to an unknown destination.

Meanwhile in East Jerusalem, forces detained a Palestinian teenager from the town of Silwan, after raiding and breaking down his home’s front door. The detainee was identified as Naim Abu Sara, 18.
