PARIS, December 3, 2017 (WAFA) – Ambassador of Palestine to France Salman Al-Harfi Sunday said the French government has expressed desire to recognize Palestine, but as part of the European Union.
He told WAFA in a phone call that France wants to recognize a state of Palestine, but with other European countries taking part, because it will safeguard the peace process.
“The Palestinian leadership aspires for France to recognize a state of Palestine, assume its role in the Middle East and form the backbone of the supportive European position,” he added.
Al-Harfi expressed said France is pushing for a European recognition in a time where the US is pressuring the European community not to recognize a state of Palestine on the borders of 1967.
