Israeli forces detain seven Palestinians, seize vehicle from West Bank

RAMALLAH, Wednesday, February 12, 2020 (WAFA) – Israeli forces today detained seven Palestinians and seized a private vehicle, mostly in multiple raids across the West Bank, said local sources and witnesses.

Israeli forces rounded up two Palestinian teens after ransacking the houses of their families in the Ramallah city neighborhood of al-Tireh.

Soldiers also raided Beitunia city, west of Ramallah, where they broke into a resident’s house, thoroughly searched his carpentry shop and seized his vehicle.

In Hebron district, a similar Israeli military raid was carried out in al-Arrub refugee camp, north of Hebron, resulting in the detention of two Palestinians, including a minor.

In Jenin district, Israeli soldiers manning a checkpoint at the entrance of Zababdeh town, southeast of Jenin city, stopped and rounded up a Palestinian, who remained unidentified.

Another Palestinian, identified as a resident of Qabatia town, was detained by Israeli police from inside Israel purportedly for lacking a work permit.

In Qalqilia district, Israeli military vehicles stormed Kafr Qaddum town, east of the city, where soldiers ransacked several houses and rounded up a Palestinian.

Israeli forces frequently raid Palestinian houses almost on a daily basis across the West Bank on the pretext of searching for “wanted” Palestinians, triggering clashes with residents.

These raids, which take place also in areas under the full control of the Palestinian Authority, are conducted with no need for a search warrant, whenever and wherever the military chooses in keeping with its sweeping arbitrary powers.

According to Palestinian figures, roughly 5,700 Palestinians -- including numerous women and children -- are currently languishing in Israeli detention facilities.
