Palestine goes up five places in the FIFA world ranking list, takes 75th spot

 

ZURICH, January 18, 2018 (WAFA) – Palestine moved up five places in the FIFA World Ranking list published on Thursday to occupy the 75th place.

FIFA congratulated the Palestinian national football team in a tweet saying it was “their best ever position.”

Palestine also took the seventh position in the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) listing. The Palestinian U23 Olympic team has advanced to the quarter finals in the AFC U23 championship currently being played in China.

Palestine is now close to very strong teams such as Ecuador, which is going to play in World Cup in June 2018, and China, which played in the World Cup, and surpassed South Africa, one the strongest teams in Africa.

Germany continued to occupy the first place in the FIFA World Ranking, followed by Brazil, then Portugal, Argentina and Belgium in the number 5 position.

Tunis is the best Arab team occupying number 24 on the list, then Egypt number 30, Morocco 39, Algeria 57 and Saudi Arabia 65.

Israel dropped one position to take the 99th spot on the World Ranking list.
