HEBRON, Friday, April 17, 2020 (WAFA) – A Palestinian herder was injured today as illegal Jewish settlers attacked Palestinian herders who were grazing sheep in open pastures near the village of Tuwaneh, south of Hebron in the occupied West Bank, according to a local official.

Fouad al-Amour, a Palestinian official in charge of monitoring Israeli settlement activities in the area, told WAFA that settlers, protected by Israeli soldiers, attacked herders and chased them out of the pastures, injuring one of them. The herder injured was identified as Akram Raba‘ee, 20.

Shepherds in the area, mainly nomadic Bedouins, make a living from raising livestock and they often take their sheep to the open pastures for their food.

Attacks by settlers against herders and other civilians in the area aim to force them to leave their homes and land, located in what is known as Area C, which makes over 60 percent of the area of the occupied West Bank.

Israel is trying to fill the region with settlers and later annex it to its sovereignty after displacing its indigenous Palestinian population.
