Israeli municipality demolishes Palestinian house, foundations in occupied Jerusalem

 

JERUSALEM, Tuesday, February 4, 2020 (WAFA) – The Israeli municipality of West Jerusalem today demolished a Palestinian-owned house in Beit Hanina neighborhood to the north of the occupied city of Jerusalem and the foundations of another house in Jabal al-Mukabber neighborhood, both under the pretext they were built without permit, according to WAFA correspondent.

He said that the house demolished belonged to Jihad Shawamra, who was detained because he protested the demolition, and was inhabited by seven people. The family was not even allowed to remove the furniture before the demolition.

Nidal Shawamra said that the house that belonged to his uncle is about 120 square meters in area and that it was built close to where his uncle had built a house that was also previously demolished by the Israeli municipality.

Earlier, Israeli municipality staff demolished the foundations for house in Jabal al-Mukabber belonging to Ismail Qaraeen, who was said to handicapped.
