Numbers of coronavirus cases in Palestine continue to rise sharply with 33 new cases confirmed

 

RAMALLAH, Saturday, June 20, 2020 (WAFA) – The number of coronavirus cases in Palestine continued to rise sharply with 33 new cases confirmed this morning in the West Bank bringing overall total in Palestine to 903, according to Minister of Health Mai Alkaila.

Yesterday, 75 new cases of COVID-19 (coronavirus) were confirmed in the West Bank, the highest number in a single day since the outbreak of the disease in Palestine in early March.

Hebron district in the south of the West Bank is the hardest hit with 32 of today’s confirmed cases and 209 cases total so far. Of the newest cases, 26 were in the city of Hebron while the remaining six in its area villages. The 33rd case was in the northern West Bank city of Nablus, said Alkaila.

According to the Minister, 592 of the total cases have recovered and five have died leaving the total active cases so far at 306.

After Hebron, Jerusalem district has the highest active cases with 38, Nablus 21, Gaza Strip 15, Ramallah and Al-Bireh 6, Bethlehem 5, Qalqilya 5, Jenin 4, Jericho and the Jordan Valley 2, and Tulkarm 1.

Total cases in the West Bank are now 636, Gaza Strip 72 and 195 in occupied East Jerusalem.

Out of the 592 recovered cases, the West Bank has 381, Gaza Strip 56 and East Jerusalem 155.

Five deaths were recorded – two in West Bank, two in East Jerusalem and one in Gaza.
