Israel’s president starts ‘visit’ of Hebron amidst tight security affecting Palestinians only

HEBRON, Wednesday, September 04, 2019 (WAFA) – Israeli President Reuven Rivlin started this afternoon a provocative “visit” of the southern West Bank city of Hebron amidst tight security measures that affected the city’s Palestinian population and which came ahead of a “visit” by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

Israeli forces clamped a curfew on the Palestinian neighborhoods of the old section of Hebron as hundreds of soldiers and police were deployed in preparation for Netanyahu’s controversial “visit”.

Palestinian shops were forced to shut down and schools were dismissed early as Netanyahu prepares to meet with settlers, regarded as hardcore right wing, in order to win their vote in the upcoming Israeli elections.

Palestinians have condemned Netanyahu’s so-called “visit” and denounced it as a violation of international law that considers Hebron occupied territory.
