RAMALLAH, May 19, 2017 (WAFA) – The Palestine Liberation Organization’s (PLO) Department of Culture and Information Thursday shared a video depicting the ongoing elimination and dispossession of the Palestinian people since 1947.
On behalf of PLO Executive Committee member Hanan Ashrawi, the department shared a video clip, Israel: Crime and Impunity, on the occasion of the 69th anniversary of the Nakba “the catastrophe”.
The department said the video clip depicts Palestinian realities since 1947, the onset of the Nakba when the majority of the Palestinian people were forcibly expelled from their homeland and denied their natural and inalienable rights, including their right to self-determination, freedom and dignity.
It added the video clip also explores “the continuing trends of the elimination, dehumanization and dispossession of Palestine and the Palestinians for the past seventy years.”
“As the Palestinian people mark the Nakba, it is important to remember that this is not a commemoration of an event in the past; rather, the Nakba is a continuum of injustice, denial and colonization that perpetuates to this day, and clearly, it is one that must end,” It added.
The department affirmed the video clip is not a comprehensive summary of events in the time period covered. Some of the material used may not directly correspond to the year indicated but are historically and factually accurate and representative of the events described.
