Palestinian detainee ends 89 days of hunger strike

RAMALLAH, Sunday, October 27, 2019 (WAFA) – Palestinian hunger striking detainee in Israeli jails, Tareq Qaadan, ended today his hunger strike which lasted for 89 days, in protest of his detention without a charge or trial.

The Detainees and Ex-Detainees Commission said Qaadan’s decision to end his hunger strike came after he reached an agreement with the Israeli authorities not to renew his four-month administrative detention.

Qaadan was recently moved to hospital after a severe deterioration in his health. He has lost about 30 kg of weight since he started his hunger strike.

Several Palestinians held in administrative detention without charge or trial for long periods of time have no choice but to observe hunger strike demanding an end to their illegal incarceration.
