RAMALLAH, January 5, 2018 (WAFA) – Israeli forces Friday detained at least two Palestinians and shot another during multiple overnight raids across the West Bank, said security sources and a Jerusalem-based watchdog.
Israeli forces shot and injured a Palestinian during a raid into Qaddura refugee camp, east of Ramallah.
Palestinian security sources said Israeli forces opened fire at a Palestinian passerby on the way leading to Ramallah Medical Complex, moderately injuring him with a live round in the thigh.
The casualty was initially treated by locals before medics arrived to the scene and rushed him to the hospital.
The camp residents said the situation was calm and no clashes were taking place when the soldiers raided the camp and shot the Palestinian.
Meanwhile, Israeli police assaulted three Palestinians after stopping their vehicle in the East Jerusalem neighborhood of Silwan.
According to Wadi Hilweh Information Center, police stopped three young Palestinians in the Silwan neighborhood of al-Ein, forced them out of their vehicle, strip searched them and inspected their identity cards.
They afterwards physically assaulted the young men, beating them up and striking them with their rifle butts, before detaining one of them.
Police reportedly fired concussion bombs and rubber-coated steel bullets at a group of al-Ein residents who attempted to secure the detainees’ release.
In the meantime, scores of Israeli soldiers raided parts of Hebron city and the surrounding areas, ransacking several homes and detaining a Palestinian.
