Presidential spokesman condemns holding of Israeli cabinet meeting in Jordan Valley

RAMALLAH, Sunday, September 15, 2019 (WAFA) - Presidential Spokesperson Nabil Abu Rudeineh slammed the holding of the Israeli weekly cabinet meeting in the Jordan Valley as a condemned and rejected act that will not give any legitimacy to settlements established on the Palestinian territories within the 1967 borders.

He said in a press statement that the Israeli government, headed by Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu, is determined to continue to undermine any opportunities to achieve a just and lasting peace based on the resolutions of international legitimacy and in accordance with the principle of a two-state solution, through its settlement approach; whether by threatening to impose Israeli sovereignty on the Palestinian territories or holding its meetings on the occupied Palestinian territories in contravention of international legitimacy and international law.

He stressed that all the settlements established in the Palestinian territories occupied in 1967, including Jerusalem, are illegal, and no one can give them legitimacy as they violate UN Security Council Resolution 2334.

The spokesman said that the international community should immediately intervene to stop the Israeli madness aimed at destroying all the foundations of the political process, reaffirming that the Palestinian people, under their legitimate leadership and headed by President Mahmoud Abbas, are the sole decision-makers on their land.
