Israeli forces 33 Palestinians in West Bank raids

JERUSALEM, October 18, 2017 (WAFA) – Israeli forces Wednesday detained a total of 33 Palestinians in multiple overnight raids across the West Bank, said Palestine Prisoner’s Society (PPS) and WAFA correspondent.

Israeli police detained six Palestinians after storming and ransacking their homes in East Jerusalem town of al-Issawiya.

The detentions came after Israeli troops raided the town several times, ransacking the family home of Shireen al-Issawi, 39, who was released shortly afterwards after spending 43 months behind bars, and tearing down all flags and posters welcoming her.

The raid triggered violent clashes with local Palestinian youths who attempted to block the troops’ passage. Troops opened fire at protestors, injuring one with a live round.

PPS added another was handcuffed and detained from East Jerusalem.

This came as a Palestinian woman was detained at al-Qattanin entrance to Al-Aqsa Mosque compound.

Meanwhile, Israeli forces raided Hebron city in the southern West Bank, shutting down and ransacking the district offices of TransMedia production company and detaining two Palestinians.

The detainees were identified as director of Hebron-based TransMedia office Ibrahim Jaabari and his brother Ismail, a cameraman.

In Bethlehem district, forces conducted a similar raid into Aida refugee camp, handcuffing and detaining two Palestinians.

Another was detained from the Ramallah-district camp of al-Jalazoun in the central West Bank.

In the northern West Bank, forces conducted multiple raids across Tulkarem district, detaining eight Palestinians.

Seven others were also detained in subsequent raids across Jenin district, namely Jaba‘, Qabatia and Zababdeh towns.

Four others were detained during similar overnight raids across the northern West Bank district of Qalqiliya.

This came as a Palestinian woman was also detained as she visited her son, who is imprisoned in the Israeli prison of Askalan.
