RAMALLAH, Wednesday, April 22, 2020 (WAFA) – One new coronavirus case was confirmed today for a Palestinian woman resident of Kufr Aqab, a neighborhood of occupied East Jerusalem located on the Ramallah-side of Israel’s separation barrier, said Minister of Health Mai Alkaila.
She said this brings the overall total in Palestine in general, which includes the occupied West Bank and East Jerusalem, as well as the Gaza Strip, to 474, among them 139 from East Jerusalem neighborhoods located inside the separation barrier, and 17 in the Gaza Strip after two new cases confirmed yesterday.
She told the daily briefing on the corona pandemic in Ramallah that all the patients at the corona centers in the West Bank and Gaza Strip are in good health and no one is currently in ICU.
Alkaila said 389 cases remain under treatment with the recovery of 69 in the West Bank and Gaza and death of two patients in the West Bank. Two Palestinian patients have also died in East Jerusalem.
She said 75 percent of the cases in the West Bank are workers in Israel and people who interacted with them and were infected.
A total of 26,000 corona tests were conducted so far, said Alkaila, adding that 10,790 suspected cases are in home quarantine and 253 are in corona quarantine centers.
