Israeli court sentences prominent Palestinian human rights activist to four months in prison

JERUSALEM, Wednesday, November 14, 2018 (WAFA) – An Israeli court Wednesday sentenced prominent Palestinian human rights activist Abdullah Abu Rahmeh to four months in prison, a suspended sentence for three years and a $545 fine based on charges from 2016.

Abu Rahmeh told WAFA that the court sentence was based on his detention on May 13, 2016 during his participation in a cycling marathon that started from Ramallah until the apartheid wall at his Bil’in village, west of Ramallah.

The court ordered Abu Rahmeh to turn himself in on December 13 to start serving his sentence or appeal the ruling.

He said his lawyer is going to appeal the case.

Abu Rahmeh was arrested several times in the past for his activism.
