Abbas Welcomes Visit of Pope Francis to Holy Land

RAMALLAH, January 5, 2014 (WAFA) President Mahmoud Abbas Sunday welcomed on behalf of the Palestinians leadership the visit of Pope Francis, Jorge Mario Bergoglio, to the hold land (Terra Santa) scheduled on the 24th of May.

Abbas expressed his and the Palestinian peoples delight over the popes acceptance of an invitation extended to him by Abbas to visit the holy land in Bethlehem and Jerusalem to conduct prayers there.

Abbas stressed the importance of the popes visit which  he hoped would bring goodness and peace to the Palestinian people as well as hoped it would help in alleviating the suffering of the Palestinian people who long for freedom, just and independence.
