NEW YORK, February 26, 2013 (WAFA) – The US-based Jewish Voice for Peace (JVP) Tuesday condemned appearance of Moshe Feiglin, a member of the Israeli parliament from Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's Likud party, at an event being held in his honor in Queens, New York.
JVP said Feiglin is known for his racist views of Palestinians and others, noting that just last week Feiglin praised the notorious Meir Kahane, the late Brooklyn-born rabbi who founded the Jewish Defense League and the Kach party, both of which are considered terrorist organizations by the US government.
It also noted that New York-born David Sackett, Feiglin's close associate and co-founder of the Jewish Leadership faction that Feiglin leads within Likud, is also a follower of Kahane and former leader of Kahane Chai, an offshoot of Kach that is also considered a terrorist organization by the US.
'It's unfortunate that a dangerous extremist like Feiglin, who has been banned from entering the UK, is being welcomed to speak in New York by members of the Jewish community,' said Cecilie Surasky, Deputy Director of Jewish Voice for Peace.
'Feiglin and the views that he represents should be abhorrent to all people of good conscience and all those who wish to see peace in the Middle East.”
