RAMALLAH, November 29, 2012 (WAFA) – The three Palestinian Arabic dailies Thursday highlighted the Palestinian bid to the United Nations to gain a non-member state status at the international organization.
Al-Hayat al-Jadida front page headline read: “Palestine the state.. Tonight.”
It printed world’s map showing how the world voted when the Palestinian people addressed UNESCO for a full membership in 2011.
Al-Quds headline read: “UN votes on Palestine’s membership. American and Israeli threats faced with world’s support.”
It printed a photo of girls flying the Palestinian flag and holding flowers and Abbas and Late leader Yasser Arafat in the city of Nablus to express solidarity with the UN bid.
Al-Ayyam said “pressure on Abbas to retract dispelled by wide spread support ahead of voting on UN bid on Thursday night.”
It featured Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman instructing all Israeli embassies across the world not to receive any official papers sealed with Palestine’s stamp.
