RAMALLAH, August 29, 2012 (WAFA) – President Mahmoud Abbas Wednesday welcomed the French judicial system’s decision to launch an investigation in the death of late Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat.

Arafat’s widow filed a case against unknown persons in France on charge of Arafat’s assassination.

Abbas said the Swiss Radiophysics Institute agreed to examine Arafat’s remains upon a request made by Palestinian officials. The Swiss lab is waiting for Atafat’s widow’s approval.

Abbas expressed his confidence that an international committee to probe Arafat’s death will soon be formed.
