GAZA, January 4, 2012 (WAFA) – Fatah Central Committee member Nabil Shaath Wednesday told Voice of Palestine radio that it was agreed on forming an independent government of technocrats by the end of January to prepare for elections planned for May.

After the elections, he said, a national unity government will be formed.

He described his meeting with Hamas leader Mahmoud Zahhar on Tuesday in Gaza as “very positive.”

He said the meeting discussed implementation of the reconciliation agreement, indicating that he detected a real willingness to push forward efforts to facilitate the work of the reconciliation committees to achieve national unity.

Shaath, who started a visit to the Gaza Strip on Monday, is going to also meet with heads of Palestinian factions in the next few days.
