RAMALLAH, March 21, 2011 (WAFA) - Palestinian Government Media Center held the Israeli government full responsibility for the dangerous and systematic escalation against Palestinians in the West Bank.

The Center stressed in a press release that it is necessary to provide Palestinians international protection in order to prevent committing more crimes against them.

It emphasized that the settlers are launching a revenge campaign under an obvious and unjustified silence by the Israeli government which provides them and their crimes a legal cover that violates international laws.

It stressed on the importance of ending the violence targeting Palestinians, lands, and properties.

The center said that a settler fired at a funeral in Beit Ummar, a village north of Hebron, and shot one Palestinian in his chest and another in his foot. One of the injuries is critical and the other is moderate, witnesses said.

According to witnesses, the settler who opened fire was under the protection of Israeli forces that is monitoring the place with surveillance cameras, adding that the army raided the cemetery and fired rubber bullets and tear gas at Palestinians.

Three settlers attacked 33 years old Mohammed Awwad and stabbed him several times in the head and chest. He was transferred to Hebron Public hospital (A’lya hospital) with critical condition.
