RAMALLAH, Saturday, September 18, 2021 (WAFA) – President Mahmoud Abbas offered today his condolences to the President and people of Algeria on the death of the nation’s former leader Abdelaziz Bouteflika.

In an official letter sent to his Algerian counterpart Abdelmadjid Tebboune, the President expressed his heartfelt condolences on the death of the former Algerian leader, and praised him for his role in the entire region and for his support of the question of Palestine.

"He gave years of his life in the service of his country and his people, and worked to establish peace and stability," said President Abbas in the letter, in which he also praised Algeria’s former leader for his support and defense of the Palestinian cause.
