RAMALLAH, Friday, April 09, 2021 – Ramzi Abu Ajamiya, a Palestinian prisoner held in the Israeli prison of Ofer, southwest of Ramallah in the occupied West Bank, has contracted COVID-19, today said the Palestinian Prisoner’s Society (PPS).
PPS said in a statement that Abu Ajamiya was moved to a section of the prison where prisoners with COVID-19 are isolated, shortly after he tested positive for the highly contagious virus.
Abu Ajamiya was detained by the Israeli occupation army from his home in Dheisha refugee camp near Bethlehem on March 29, ten days after he was shot and injured in the leg by the occupation forces. He is expected to appear for trial on the 12th of this month.
The latest case brings up the number of Palestinian detainees who have contracted the virus so far in the Israeli prisons to 368.
