RAMALLAH, Friday, August 21, 2020 (WAFA) – Palestine today recorded 457 new COVID-19 cases and 540 recovery cases in the last 24 hours.
Health Minister Mai al-Kaileh announced that 457 Palestinians tested positive for the highly contagious virus and 540 others recovered from it in the occupied territories in the last 24 hours.
Among the 457 new confirmed cases, 140 cases were recorded in Hebron, 10 others in Nablus, 21 others in Bethlehem, 11 others in Qalqilia, 42 others in Ramallah and al-Bireh, 64 others in Jericho and the Jordan Valley, 17 others in Tulkarem, another in Salfit and 151 others in Jerusalem district.
As for the new 540 recovery cases, they included 346 cases in Hebron, another in Tubas, another in Jenin, 38 others in Nablus, 28 others in Jericho and the Jordan Valley, three others in Qalqilia, three others in Salfit and 120 others in Jerusalem.
Al-Kaileh pointed out the recovery rate in the occupied territories reached 62.6 percent, the active cases rate 36.8 percent, and the death toll rate 0.6 percent of the total cases confirmed since the pandemic outbreak.
She noted that 25 COVID-19 patients remain in the intensive care units, including six connected to respirators.
According to the latest coronavirus data, the confirmed cases in the occupied territories (West Bank, including East Jerusalem, and Gaza) reached 24,396.
Recoveries have totaled 15,270, and the death toll reached 132, leaving a total of 8,994 active cases.
