Palestine confirms 512 new COVID-19 cases, 409 recovery cases

 

RAMALLAH, Thursday, August 20, 2020 (WAFA) – Palestine today confirmed 512 new COVID-19 cases and 409 recovery cases.

Health Minister Mai al-Kaileh announced that 512 Palestinians tested positive for the highly contagious virus and 409 others recovered from it in occupied territories in the last 24 hours.

Among the 512 new confirmed cases, she pointed out that 104 cases were recorded in Hebron district, 67 others in Nablus district, 23 others in Bethlehem district, 18 others in Qalqilia district, 53 others in Ramallah and al-Bireh district, 45 others in Jericho and the Jordan Valley, another in Tulkarem, four others in Jenin district, seven others in Salfit district, 23 others in Gaza and 167 others in Jerusalem district.

As part of the 409 recovery cases, she explained that seven cases were recorded in Qalqilia district, 331 others in Hebron district, seven others in Tulkarem district, nine others in Nablus district, three others in Salfit district, seven others in Jericho district, six others in Jenin district and 39 others in Jerusalem district.

She added that 24 COVID-19 patients are still in the intensive care units, including four who are connected to respirators.

According to the latest coronavirus data, the confirmed cases in the occupied territories (West Bank, including East Jerusalem, and Gaza) reached 23,939.

Out of the 23,939 cases, 17,872 are recorded in the West Bank, 117 in the Gaza Strip and 5,950 in East Jerusalem.

Recoveries have totaled 14,730, accounting for 61.5 percent of the total cases since the pandemic outbreak, and the death toll reached 131, accounting for 0.6 percent of the total cases.

This leaves a total of 9,078 active cases, accounting for 37.9 percent of the total cases.
