RAMALLAH, Tuesday, August 18, 2020 (WAFA) – Palestine today recorded 612 new novel coronavirus cases and 83 recovery cases in the last 24 hours.
Health Minister Mai al-Kaileh announced that 612 Palestinians tested positive for the highly contagious virus and 83 others recovered from it in the occupied territories in the last 24 hours.
Among the 612 new cases, 140 cases were recorded in Hebron district, 57 others in Nablus district, 45 others in Bethlehem district, 30 others in Qalqilia district, 40 others in Ramallah and al-Bireh district, 44 others in Jericho and the Jordan Valley, 11 others in Tulkarem district, six others in Jenin district, eight others in the Gaza Strip and 231 others in Jerusalem district.
Al-Kaileh pointed out that among the 83 recovery cases, 11 cases were recorded in Tulkarem district, 20 others in Qalqilia district, two others in Jenin district and 50 others in Jerusalem city.
She added that 24 patients remain in intensive care, including seven who are still connected to respirators.
According to the latest coronavirus data, the confirmed cases in the occupied territories (West Bank, including East Jerusalem, and Gaza) reached 23,003.
Out of the 23,003 cases, 17,215 are recorded in the West Bank, 91 in the Gaza Strip and 5,697 in East Jerusalem.
Recoveries have totaled 13,799, accounting for 60 percent of the total cases since the pandemic outbreak, and the death toll reached 124, accounting for 0.5 percent of the total cases.
This leaves a total of 9,080 active cases, accounting for 39.4 percent of the total cases.
