Palestine records 481 confirmed coronavirus cases, one fatality

 

RAMALLAH, Tuesday, July 28, 2020 (WAFA) – Palestine today recorded 481 new coronavirus cases and one fatality in the last 24 hours.

The Health Ministry announced in a press statement that 481 Palestinians tested positive for the novel coronavirus and another died of it, raising the total number of confirmed cases and fatalities in the occupied territories since the pandemic outbreak to 13,457 cases and 81 fatalities.

The latest fatality was that of a 69-year-old man from the refugee camp of al-Jalazone, north of Ramallah city.

Among the 481 new cases, 222 cases were recorded in Jerusalem district, 180 others in Hebron district, 13 others in Ramallah and al-Bireh district, four others in Tulkarem district, 15 others in Bethlehem district, 15 others in Jenin district, seven others in Nablus district, 16 others in Jericho district, six others in Qalqiliya district and three others in Tubas district.

Besides, the ministry announced that 537 COVID-19 patients recovered from the virus in the last 24 hours, raising the total recoveries to 6,033.

Among the 537 recoveries, 355 recovery cases were recorded in Hebron district, 17 others in Jerusalem district, 53 others in Ramallah and al-Bireh district, 100 others in Jerusalem suburbs, seven others in Qalqiliya district and five others in Tulkarem district.

According to the latest coronavirus data, the ministry pointed out, total active cases dropped to 7,824.

In terms of percentages, recovery increased to 43.3 percent, while total active cases dropped to 56.1 percent. The death toll account for 0.6 percent.
