RAMALLAH, Monday, July 20, 2020 (WAFA) - President Mahmoud Abbas received at the presidential headquarters in Ramallah today Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukri where they discussed the latest political developments regarding the Palestinian issue, in addition to the political and diplomatic efforts to mobilize international support for the Palestinian position aimed at preventing Israel from implementing its plan to annex occupied Palestinian territory.

Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah el-Sisi affirmed yesterday in a telephone conversation with President Abbas his country's support for the Palestinian people and their just cause, and the Palestine Liberation Organization as the sole and legitimate representative of the Palestinian people led by President Mahmoud Abbas.

The Egyptian President reaffirmed the necessity of finding a just solution to the Palestinian issue and for the Palestinian people to gain independence in their state with its capital, East Jerusalem, on the 1967 borders in accordance with United Nations resolutions, pointing to Egypt's rejection of any unilateral solutions that are inconsistent with international law because it will lead to fueling the conflict and creating instability in the region.
