He was received by the Foreign Minister Riyad Malki and Egypt's ambassador to Palestine Issam Ashour.
Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi confirmed yesterday in a telephone conversation with President Abbas his country's support for the Palestinian people and their just cause, and the Palestine Liberation Organization as the sole and legitimate representative of the Palestinian people led by President Abbas.
He indicated that he would send Foreign Minister Shukri to Ramallah and to meet President Abbas to reassert Egypt’s firm stance towards Palestine, listen to President Abbas, and provide full support for the Palestinian position.
The Egyptian President reaffirmed the necessity of finding a just solution to the Palestinian issue and for the Palestinian people to gain independence in their state with its capital, East Jerusalem, on the 1967 borders in accordance with United Nations resolutions, pointing to Egypt's rejection of any unilateral solutions that are inconsistent with international law because it will lead to fueling the conflict and creating instability in the region.
