Japan funds solar energy system at Franciscan Sisters’ School in Jericho

 

JERICHO, Thursday, December 05, 2019 (WAFA) – Japan has provided a financial grant for the installation of a solar energy system at the Franciscan Sisters’ School in Jericho.

Japan’s Representative Office to Palestine today announced in a press release that Japan has provided a grant of USD $60,357 to the school to install the new solar energy system to run all the recently-installed air conditioning units in the school with the ultimate goal of achieving appropriate educational condition for 600 students and 42 workers.

Ambassador for the Palestinian Affairs and Representative of Japan to Palestine Masayuki Magoshi visited Jericho city to celebrate the completion of the project funded by the Government of Japan through Japan’s Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects (GGP).

In his speech, Magoshi emphasized Japan’s firm commitment of supporting Palestinian people from human security perspective as well as the importance of implementing social and economic development projects needed for Palestinian communities.

The statement concluded by recalling that since 1993 the Government of Japan has extended its official development assistance to approximately USD 1.9 billion to the Palestinians. GGP projects have been formulated in collaboration with the Palestinian Authority through Ministry of Finance and Planning since 2010.
