RAMALLAH, December 3, 2009 (WAFA)- The Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics (PCBS) said, today, that the estimated quantity of water consumed by the health care centers in the Palestinian Territory reached 208,000 m3 /month in 2009, 132,900 m3 /month of which in the West Bank and 75,100 m3 /month in the Gaza Strip.
The PCBS added in its statistical report about the environment situation in the Health Care Centers in the Palestinian Territory for the year 2009, released, today, that in 2008 water consumptions was estimated to be 175,500 thousand cubic meters/month in the Palestinian Territory
The center added that the estimated quantities produced by the health care centers in the Palestinian Territory in 2009 were about 1,202 tons; 472 tons in the West Bank, and 730 in Gaza Strip.
The report showed that 96.6% of the health care centers in the Palestinian Territory obtain water from the water network, whereas during 2008, this percentage was 94.0%.
The report continued on that 61.1% of the health care centers in the Palestinian Territory in 2009 dispose of their wastewater using a public network, 13.9% of the health care centers use a tight cesspit, and 24.9% of the health care centers use a porous cesspit.
The local authority transfers the wastes to the final disposal place for 83.5% of the health care centers. The place of final disposal was a dumping site owned by the local authority for 77.5% of the health care centers in the Palestinian Territory, while 19.1% of the health care centers transfer their waste to a private dumping site.
